Sugar Daddies
Sugar Daddy or John?Of the more ridiculous dating web sites out there (and by this I mean the ones with the most potential for outlandish lies and ludicrous customers), Sugardaddyforme.com has to rank highly on the list.
The home page for the site offers up a fine list of choices for those searching out that "special someone". Sugar Daddy, Gay Sugar Daddy, Sugar Momma, and Sugar Baby. The roles are clearly defined, if you want to be provided for (and who doesn't in these hard economic times?), you are a Sugar Baby, if you "provide financial support," you are a potential Sugar Daddy or Momma...
Although I am technically involved with someone, I decided to sign up and look for a Sugar Daddy. Why not? After all, as the sign-up page says, "It's just as easy to fall in love with a rich man as a poor man." (Why wasn't I given those words of wisdom years ago?) Unfortunately, due to the three-day trial period, and the fact that I didn't want any actual Sugar Daddies contacting me for any hot and heavy sessions, I didn't get too far in my quest for the perfect Sugar Daddy. It did seem like an easy place to lie about my figure (perfect), my income (somewhere in the range between the Facebook creators and Bill Gates) and my age. Why wouldn't my possible Sugar Daddy do the same?
I also wonder how the services of Sugardaddyforme.com differ from those of a high-class escort service? Oh, excuse me, did I say "Escort Service?" I meant prostitution ring....where does the line between "mistress" and "prostitute" begin and end? In the eyes of the law, there is quite a big difference, but how about in the eyes of society?
A friend of a friend (and I swear to God this comes from a reliable source) is a young(ish) married woman who frequently travels for "business" to "conferences" where the "organizers" shower her with "trinkets", including expensive luggage and the occasional jewel. So far, her husband is apparently in the dark, but she did have a close call when he accidentally stumbled upon her "second phone". The woman, basically, is living out her fantasies by meeting rich, older men on Sugardaddy.com. The men presumably, are getting in touch with their supposed biological and evolutionary need to sleep with more women who are younger. How is this different than high class prostitution? The woman gets presents instead of money. Period. End of story. She is not a prostitute because a) she can choose which men and b) she does not get paid by the hour.
The moral of the story is: if you are young and hot, but poor, or old, and possibly ugly, but rich, Sugardaddyforme.com might be the place you are looking for.

So, I'm a bit confused. Should I understand that the author disapproves of so called, "prostitution" but does not disapprove of so called, "escort services"? Why does it matter? I agree that the law seems to make stupid differences based primarily on economic class, but what is actually wrong with any kind of sex-for-money arrangements?
The only thing I can think of is that it creates a problem in society. That is, men who have the money to pay for sex get inappropriate expectations of the kind of women they can "attract" while women who exchange their bodies for money create inappropriate incentives for themselves. That is, there is a huge financial incentive for them to ignore or subvert their own intuition about what's best for them. On the other hand, the same is largely true for a great many jobs in society in which both men and women engage regularly and those jobs aren't illegal.
I agree that if we weren't constantly bombarded with television and print advertising using the most beautiful women in the world to get us to buy products, then these would indeed be quite valid reasons why prostitution would be bad for society. But since the advertisers already do the job of the prostitutes for them, there is no ethical reason that prostitution should remain illegal or unethical. I agree that pimping laws should remain, however, for obvious reasons.
Who disagrees with me and why?

I actually am in favor of legalizing prostitution and am ok in theory with this, too. I just hate the idea of gold diggers and the men who prefer to have "trophy girlfriends".
