American Apparel Wants Your Butt
Is Your Butt Good Enough? For those of you who do not know Dov Charney, perhaps you should become acquainted with him. As the CEO of American Apparel, he will stop at nothing to having pretty, young things surrounding him at his stores, ramping up his ads with teen sex appeal in the hopes of someday being able to compete with Ambercrombie and Fitch, and trying to walk around his offices in his underwear because everyone likes to see flabby, middle-aged men half-naked while they are trying to work or snack at the water cooler.
His latest ad, which I just heard about from Gawker, is asking you, the women of America, to send in photos of your butt. Because if your ass is nice and the rest of you isn’t so nice, he doesn’t want to see you. To Dov Charney, and to American Apparel, you are nothing more than your butt. For those of you with a nice rack, just wait as your time will probably come in the near future.
I am already hearing the comments in my head from those of you who truthfully have the nicest ass in the world who feel that you can compete in the American Apparel competition and I’d like to give you some advice- however nice your butt is, you will probably win nothing, feel bad that your butt is not nice enough to grace the pages of some magazines in American Apparel ads, and wish that you had photo-shopped it, because that is probably the only way someone could win this contest. So, good luck.
And, as for Dov Charney, I am so sick of him. We already have enough problems with teen pregnancy, STD’s, etc. that I seriously have to ask: do we really need to sex up teen ads any more? I don’t think so and neither should you.
Check out this ad below from a People magazine this summer and give me your honest opinion on the age of the model. I am guessing she is 15 years old. When I posted this pic earlier, some people commented saying that they themselves looked much younger than their actual age and that I shouldn’t automatically assume that that girl was young. I say jolly good for them, but it if a company is publicly announcing that they are marketing “teen sex”, I think it’s a safe bet that the model in this pic is younger than 18.
